1995 $5 Prosperity Sheets Fly Under the Radar

Sometimes it pays to keep a low profile. However, when it comes to certain collectible currency being publicity shy is a mixed bag. On the plus side, you benefit from more choices and relatively modest prices. On the down side, it tends to restrain values and appreciation for your items.

The best of both worlds is possible when you recognize value before the crowd does.

The 1995 $5 Prosperity Sheets are good candidates for that role. Little known beyond certain hardcore small size collectors, only 1125 eight-note sheets were printed for each block. Printed exclusively for the 8th or St Louis District, the eight limited-edition blocks are H-D through H-K. Each of the notes begins with a minimum of four eights (for example, H8888XXXXJ)).

These notes were marketed extensively to the Asian community, in the U.S. and overseas. As a result, many of these sheets now reside beyond the reach of traditional collectors. For example, the H-G and H-F blocks were sold primarily overseas and are extremely difficult to locate. Single notes from the H-G and H-F sheets have recently sold in the $300-$350 range.

With the Schwartz & Lindquist Small-Size Guide only mentioning these notes in a one-sentence comment on page 139 of their book, it’s easy to see how most collectors have overlooked these.

Thanks to Currency America for the information!

HIGHEST KNOWN PMG GRADE ON 4 RARE NOTES !!!

I just got a few notes back from PMG (Paper Money Guaranty) grading service, and I have some winners! Now I have to figure out how to price these notes that came back as the best known grade that PMG has awarded:

$2 1976 I* star - PMG 67 EPQ - TIED FOR BEST KNOWN IN THE POPULATION REPORT - ONLY TWO IN THIS TOP GRADE KNOWN - HERE'S THE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN ONE.

$50 2004A GB* STAR - PMG 67 EPQ - 5 GRADED, ALL AT THIS GRADE - RARE NOTE WITH ONLY 64,000 PRINTED. TOP GRADE FOR THIS ULTRA-RARE STAR.

$5 1993 IA (FW) - PMG 66 EPQ - ONLY 10 GRADED AND THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE - OWN THE ONLY IN PMG 66!! THERE IS ONE IN PMG 65, 4 IN PMG 64, THE REST ARE LESS THAN UNC. Incredibly rare in any grade!! Only a handful were ever found from this elusive block. I've seen a PMG 58 listed at $1500, so what is a 66 worth?

$20 2004 EK* STAR - PMG 67 EPQ - (I also have a PMG 66 to offer) - the 67 is the ONE AND ONLY!! The Schwartz catalog has the wrong information on this note, listing that there were 3,840,000 printed - THERE WERE ONLY 384,000 PRINTED AND MOST COLLECTORS NEED THIS ONE IN ANY GRADE. A sleeper that will take a decade for the average collector who relies on catalogs to figure out.

I have to ask around to some of my friends that deal in graded notes, but the premium on these should be well worth it to obtain the HIGHEST PMG KNOWN on the above notes!! I'm excited to be breaking into the grading market with these notes. Any interest in purchasing please let me know. Definately for the advanced collecter that is putting together a superior collection!!
